Overcoming Fears

Some surveys reported that the fear of public speaking is greater than people’s fear of death.  Most people will agree that it is a challenge for people who are not naturally gifted at speaking in front of a group.  Here are a few practical tips to help overcome the fear of public speaking:

1. Practice your speech passionately for a week beforehand.  People don’t remember what you say.  They remember how you say it. Your fire is contagious.
2. Tell yourself your life mission 3 times before you speak.  When you really believe passionately in your mission nothing will stop you from sharing it.  When your why is great enough you will push through the situation.  Example: A child faints in an auditorium and the parent stands up in front of the crowd begging for someone to help their child.
3. Speak to 2 or more people daily.  Initiate conversation.  Overcome the fear of strangers.
